Summary

  • Directive #3 update for Long-term Care Homes effective October 16. All short term and temporary absences for social or personal reasons must be requested. Absences from long-term care homes in areas where there is widespread community transmission of COVID-19 are not permitted, unless for medical for medical or compassionate reasons. 

Actions

  • Non-medical absences must be approved by home. In an outbreak, all non-essential absences should be discontinued. The resident/substitute decision maker must make absence request. The home must review and approve all non-medical absence requests based on risk. Information provided re: short term, temporary (includes over nights absences) and medical absences.
