COVID-19: Guidance for Prioritizing Health Care Workers for COVID-19 Vaccination

General Information Community Support Services EMS Home Care Hospital Indigenous Health Long-Term Care Mental Health & Addictions Primary Care Public Health Retirement Home Other

  • Demand for COVID-19 vaccine supply will initially exceed available supply. A stepwise approach to health care worker prioritization will be used, focusing first on sectors and settings, then on level of community risk, and lastly on individual risk. Sectors and setting are prioritized based on risk of exposure and patient populations served – using an ethics and equity lens.

  • This guidance document complements the prioritization sequence developed by the Ministry of Health. Health care organizations are responsible to support and facilitate operations where requested and develop enabling policies and strategies to support staff to get their immunizations.
